Aromatherapy Massage Main Image

Enjoy all the benefits of massage therapy with the addition of essential oils to help reduce many symptoms associated with stress and anxiety.

A blend of essential oils, usually 3-4 will be chosen after a consultation to assess any health conditions and current stress levels.

While aromatherapy massage is primarily seen as a relaxing treatment, massage pressure can be adjusted according to personal preference or concerns. Essential oils can also be a compliment to a remedial or deep tissue treatment.

It is important to consult with a qualified aromatherapist, experienced in essential oil blending. You may be required to consult with your GP or healthcare professional before your treatment, especially if you have specific health concerns or you are pregnant.

Benefits of Aromatherapy Massage

Reduction of Stress

Massage reduces muscle tension while having a calming effect on the parasympathetic nervous system.  This can reduce blood pressure, heart rate and production of cortisol (stress hormone).

Improved Sleep

Essential oils, such as lavender, valerian, chamomile and bergamot, are known for their calming and soporific properties.  Massage itself has powerful sleep inducing qualities promoting the hormones serotonin and dopamine that allow a good quality sleep.

Pain Relief

Aromatherapy massage can be beneficial for relieving muscle pain, tension,  headaches and symptoms of IBS.  Massage itself releases endorphins combined with essential oils like peppermint, black pepper and eucalyptus which have analgesic and antispasmodic properties.

Enhanced Mood

Aromatherapy massage can influence mood through the release of endorphins (happy hormones) and the limbic system, which is connected to emotions and memories. Citrus oils such as orange and lemon can help with depression and feeling sad.  Floral scents such as rose and jasmine are often used to comfort and promote a sense of well-being.

Improved Circulation

The massage component of aromatherapy helps improve blood circulation and essential oils like juniper berry, rosemary, cypress, ginger or black pepper may further enhance, potentially providing benefits for cardiovascular health.

Improved Immune System

Massage therapy has been shown to strengthen the immune system by producing more white blood cells and boosting lymph flow.  Certain essential oils, such as tea tree, eucalyptus, and lemon, are believed to have antimicrobial properties that can further support immunity.
